Why Adopt?
Many people have the misconception that rescue is for pet's that have been surrendered due to uncontrollable behavior
issues or illnesses. Although this can be reasons for a pet to be surrendered, a high percentage of pets are merely handed
over to rescues and shelters because the former owner was not either educated enough about the breed or honestly not
prepared for the responsibilities, patience and commitment to that animal (usually because of impulse buying). As such,
most of these pets were either purchased from pet stores or backyard breeder who, in turn, contributed to the
irresponsibilities of pet ownership as many didn't ask the essential questions to ensure proper pet placement. This is why
we have come into a time of age when shelters and rescues are so over populated with many adorable, adoptable and loving
pets (of all ages) even with dogs being spayed and neutered more each year.

When dealing with a reputable rescue organization, many will ensure you are ready, willing and able to take care of a new
pet and most importantly, have the time and patience for one! In addition, they will help you determine if that breed is "right"
for your home and lifestyle (and to ensure you are not allergic to that breed!). Not only is this responsibile pet ownership, you
